Why?

Death
Why do we battle the inevitable?
Why is there such fear in talking
about our dying?

We all have a sense of "foreverness"
within us. We have the desire to live.
This spirit of life dwells within us
for a reason ... just as the spirit of
"foreverness" lives within us for a reason.

Some of us will die unexpectedly,
some of us will know of our pending
death. Some of you reading this will
not be here next year.

Are you prepared?
Would you like to be prepared?

Society has labeled the discussion of
dying as: morbid, depressing, as
hopelessness, even suggesting as to
being suicidal!

The baby boomer generation has
been blessed with medical technology
advancement never witnessed before
in any generation.

The ability to cure at all cost
has become the mantra for our
health care options!

Our fear of dying is based on:
lack of knowledge/understanding
lack of importance
lack of appropriate care for the situation
lack of comfort measures
lack of support system for our care

What the Dying Want

  • To have someone available,
    spending time   with us.
  • Allow us to "set the pace,"
allow us to discuss our death,
    not changing the subject
    when you get uncomfortable.
  • Accept my anger; don't react
to me ... your negative reaction
    can increase my loneliness,
    guilt and helplessness to my
    situation.
  • Don't abandon me even when
the prognosis is grim, help me
maintain my hope one day at
    a time.
  • Respect my individuality and
my dignity as I choose my end of
    life journey.

Most of all, give love...

Let you be the one that holds my hand
until I feel God's hand in mine.

"Where do you want to be
if you can't be at home
during the last days or months of your life?"
